LED lighting in London Stadium

LED lighting in London Stadium

The London professional football club Tottenham Hotspur eliminated one of the mysteries surrounding the lighting of its mega sports and entertainment complex that will soon host the football games, among many other events, as it confirmed that the field lighting will be LED.
"The roof has 324 LED stadium lights that form the stadium lighting," the club said in the progress report. But the Spurs (as it is popularly known) refused to reveal the stadium's LED lighting provider. "We will make an announcement about the club's supplier for field lighting in due course once everything is finished," a spokesperson told LEDs Magazine. "Until then we obviously can't advertise who it could be."
Spurs, last summer, anointed the Austrian manufacturer of LED luminaires Zumtobel as a lighting partner for the ambitious new stadium of £ 850 million (about $ 1.2 billion). But the association did not include field lighting. On the contrary, he focused on digital lighting for the "fan experience."
At that time, the team did not even commit to lighting the field with LED. While the stadium's LED lighting is becoming fashionable in many professional sports venues, such as in Major League Baseball and the NFL, stadium operators sometimes choose to upgrade with non-LED systems. It is not clear if Zumtobel has been fighting for field lighting.
The lighting of 6 panels of 324 LEDs will be mounted on each of the 54 columns of the roof. The roof consists of glass panels that lean over the stands but leave the playing field open.
Spurs expect to open its new stadium of 61,559 seats (for football) in time for local matches in the 2018 season, which starts in August. Tottenham plays in the colloquially known Premier League of England. The stadium is scheduled to host a National Football League match between the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks on October 14.
The team is promoting the facility as "a world-class entertainment and sports destination." Its many modern touches will include a Hewlett Packard information technology network, a retractable grass field that can give way to artificial turf, several restaurants and clubs including a Sky Lounge with city views and a "Tunnel Club" with walls of glass, a microbrewery, a bakery, and what is advertised as the longest bar in the UK at approximately 285 feet. It also includes a single ascending level of 17,500 seats at one end designed to improve crowd noise by creating what Spurs calls a "wall of sound."
When the LEDs were last verified, it was believed that Spurs was looking for £ 400 million (about $ 552 million) in denomination rights.
